Dual Diagnosis Care

Integrated treatment for patients navigating substance use and mental health conditions together — because treating one without the other rarely leads to lasting recovery.

What is dual diagnosis care?

Dual diagnosis — also called co-occurring disorders — describes a substance use condition and a mental health condition happening at the same time, each affecting the other. Treating them separately often leaves gaps that lead back to relapse. Our approach evaluates and treats both together, under one coordinated care plan led by a board-certified addiction psychiatrist.

Who this is for

Patients experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, or trauma alongside substance use
Patients whose past treatment addressed only the addiction or only the mental health condition
Patients already in MAT or IOP who need additional psychiatric support
Referrals from primary care, therapists, or other providers who suspect a co-occurring condition

What to expect

1

Initial psychiatric evaluation

A full history and evaluation of both substance use and mental health symptoms.

2

Coordinated treatment plan

A plan built jointly with your counselor and medical team — not two separate tracks.

3

Medication management, if needed

Ongoing adjustment and monitoring alongside therapy.

4

Regular follow-up

Check-ins to adjust the plan as recovery progresses.
