April Marlowe, MD

Psychiatrist

Board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, and a graduate of the MAHEC Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship in Asheville, NC. Dr. Marlowe leads psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and dual diagnosis care at My Next Steps, with additional focus on group therapy, perinatal mental health, and grief and bereavement support.

CEO & Founder, Practice Manager

Tonya brings more than two decades of clinical and administrative experience, having started her healthcare career as an MOA and CNA I before completing her phlebotomy certification in 2010. She oversees daily operations, compliance, and patient flow, and takes pride in keeping the office organized and welcoming so the team can focus on patient care.

Trent H.

Chief Operating Officer

Trent brings a background in construction and sales to his role as COO. His construction experience centered on managing budgets, coordinating subcontractors and materials, and working closely with clients and teams to keep every job on track. His sales background — spanning construction estimating, automotive, technology, and insurance — adds a strong foundation in building relationships and understanding what clients need from the first conversation.

Trent is focused on the systems and structure behind the scenes, so our clinical team can stay focused on what matters most — patient care.

Outside of work, Trent enjoys time at home with his wife and their cat, Nova, and rarely misses a Carolina Panthers game.

Rebecca S., MA, LCAS-A

Counselor

Rebecca has worked with individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges since 2012. She holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College and is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist – Associate. Rebecca facilitates IOP groups, parenting classes, and DWI groups, and provides individual counseling.

Lab Technician

Amber graduated from CCC&TI in 2019 with an Associate's in Applied Science, Medical Assistant Program, and holds her CMA certification. She manages specimen collection, processing, and lab coordination, ensuring results are accurate, timely, and reliable for the care team.
