Practice Manager

Tonya H.

As the Practice Manager at My Next Steps of Morganton, I bring more than two decades of hands‑on clinical and administrative experience to our team. I began my healthcare journey as an MOA and CNA I, graduating from CCC&TI in 2004, and later expanded my clinical skill set by completing my phlebotomy certification at WPPC in 2010. These early foundations continue to shape the way I support both our staff and the individuals we serve.

While my primary role focuses on overseeing daily operations, compliance, and patient flow, I truly enjoy staying connected to the clinical side of care. I value face‑to‑face interactions and take pride in helping create a welcoming, supportive environment where every person feels respected and encouraged. Seeing the positive outcomes and personal growth of each individual is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I am committed to ensuring that My Next Steps of Morganton remains a place where compassion, professionalism, and high‑quality care come together to support meaningful change.

I take pride in keeping our office organized, welcoming, and running smoothly so our team can focus on providing the best care possible to our patients.

My name is Stacey Moretz, and I am a dedicated mental health nurse practitioner with a strong passion for helping individuals take meaningful steps toward wellness and recovery. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from East State University in 2014 and later completed my Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019.

With years of clinical experience and a patient-centered approach, I strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s needs. I believe that healing happens best in a supportive, respectful environment where patients feel heard and empowered.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time at home with my dogs and making memories with my wonderful grandkids

Hi, I’m Amber—often known around here as the “lab girl.” I’m passionate about the behind-the-scenes work that helps keep things running smoothly and accurately for our patients. I take pride in being detail-oriented, dependable, and always focused on providing the best support possible to our team and the people we serve.

Outside of work, I love getting creative with crafting and spending quality time with my husband, our two wonderful boys, and our family dog. Family means everything to me, and I bring that same care, patience, and dedication into my work every day.

My name is Leslie, and I am dedicated to helping individuals take positive and meaningful next steps in their lives. I earned my Master’s degree from Kaplan University and hold multiple professional certifications, including MCAP, BCBA, and ICADC through the Florida Certification Board, as well as CADC certification through the North Carolina Certification Board. These credentials reflect my commitment to ethical, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy reading and am a huge Stephen King fan. I also love collecting Nightmare Before Christmas items and enjoy shopping in my free time. These interests help me stay balanced and allow me to connect with others in a relatable, down-to-earth way.

My name is Chanda, and I am a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CDAC) who is passionate about supporting individuals as they take meaningful steps toward recovery and personal growth. I believe in meeting people where they are and providing compassionate, respectful care in a supportive environment.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren. I also love caring for my chickens and my German Shepherd, Luna, who keeps me active and brings a lot of joy to my life. These moments help keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of connection, patience, and balance.
